Trial 3: Steamed Muffin

Approximately 35 freshly gathered worms of all sizes (mostly small) were purged and chopped and cleaned as in Trial 1 and Trial 2.

A potato was peeled and diced and kneaded into flour (1 C) and water (4 oz) dough. A pinch of salt (1/3 t) and a small amount of sesame oil and cinnamon and pepper and garlic powder were added, along with 3 oz. of chopped worms. The muffins were shaped into balls the size of small apples, and steamed 15-20 minutes.

Result: two white muffins the size of an apple, with something brown that looked like raisins or nuts here and there, visible.

Taste Tester 1 (Nancy) found the taste delicious, with a slight sweet taste, something a child would readily eat, and encountered no sand. The appearance of the worm pieces looked like raisins.

Taste Tester 2 (Ichi) found the sample, on a scale of 1-10, to be a 5, but found the sample tasteless and the shape of the worms could be seen in the sample.

Taste Tester 3 (Ron) found the sample like a firm dumpling, with a barely perceptible sweet taste, bland but the most palatable of all samples yet. Sand was encountered, and there were few worms in the sample.
